Do you listen to country music in the hiding?

Kenneth asked the question:

Are you a country music fan and yet ashamed of it. I am, probably becuase I like to listen to a lot of fast and hard country type songs. I tend to call myself a crytpo country listener. Indeed I only do it when noone is around and mostly in my foreign car with the windows rolled up. I change the radio back to a classical or pop station when I get down from car. I would not want to be caught dead with the radio on that station. Also any country music cds I own I keep hidden in my messenger bag.
See ya.

yes, and no. I like all music but when I get out of my car if I was listening to country I turn down the volume. My roommate hates country and always has a comment if I am listening to it.

Why would you be ashamed? If you were raised in the country, its what you grew up with. It’s a way of life, if you aren’t from the country I could see why you wouldn’t want to listen to it. Probably you live in a city or something, and people there think its backwards hick music, but that is their ignorance showing. I love country music, it was how I was raised, so no, I’m not ashamed. That’s who I am.

I like the older country music, or classic country such as Johnny Cash, and Tanya Tucker. This was back when country music was country music. I do not like the country music played today.

Well, I listen to it in the car, at work, at home, etc. I’m a country girl. But I don’t like the really country sounding songs all the time (they can get old fast), so when I’m at school in the city I usually change the station to another one that I like if the song is too twangy. Living in the country but going to school in the city is weird so I don’t like to blare my country music in the city with people walking all around. That’s why I want to move to Nashville. lol.

But I don’t hide that I like it from people, everyone knows I like country. My brother and some friends have made fun of me, but I deal with it. They’re coming around to it now.

I’m a hillbilly and proud of it. I’m not ashamed to listen to the old stuff, it’s today’s country that’s a shame to listen to.

Nope. There is never a reason to be ashamed of one’s honest opinion. those who try to make you feel ashamed for liking something that they think is stupid or dorky or something should be ashamed of themselves and need a good swift kick in the keister.
