Country music?

Firefly asked the question:

It’s amazing the ignorance that some people have towards country music. I actually used to be one of them. I used to think country music was for dumb rednecks and hicks. But one day, I pondered about it. I was tired of listening to the liberal punk trash on the radio, and I knew country music is mostly conservative. I started listening to Toby Keith, and I loved it. Moved on to Montgomery Gentry, then Big n Rich, then Tim McGraw, then Van Zant, and pretty soon, I was loving country music. My eyes were opened big time, it was a huge shock. Has anyone else noticed this sort of attitude toward country music? A lot of people that say they don’t like it have never really heard it or know what it’s really about.

I’ve heard it and I understand where your coming from. But it’s just a matter of opinion. I doon’t like it and it’s ok if you like it because that’s your opinion. I’m glad you found some new music to listen to. :-)

yeah, it’s kinda ironic how people who “love” rock seem to diss country music so much, since rock music actually did come from country music & rhythm and blues.
just for your own interest, you should check out keith urban, kenny chesney & rascal flatts.

    cheers.

I feel the same way! When I was about 17 I started listening and realized that the words to the songs really meant something and theycould prob. mean something to mist people if they just listened! I always thought that they were only talking about their bigg red pick up truck or something like that. I am a huge fan now!!!
    Love country!

I notice it all the time!!!

I have ALWAYS listened to country music since I was little. My fiance is always telling me how bad my taste in music is because I listen to country music.

He listens to metal and I can’t understand most of what those bands are even saying.

nope. never liked it one bit. Metal is wayyyy better. it has fast guitar riffs & heavy chords. quick as hell drumming. & hardkore screaming. Metal is what you should be listening to. THAT takes talent.

try some bluegrass too. Our ancestors can tell you how long it’s been around. Bluegrass and Country never really change too much from their origins. Nothing like a flat boxtop and a banjo for some good pickin and grinnin.

I love country music. I think if more people gave it a listen they would see that it is the best music. This is the music about life, there is a song for every situation anybody has ever been in. When you want to cry, turn on a sad country song, if your happy, an upbeat country song, or wanting revenge at that cheatin’ bf, a good cheatin’ song. Country all the way, baby.

Yeah i don’t see why everybody hates country.Everybody bashes it but they never have a good reason.People like Johnny Cash and Hank Williams built music and the way everybody hates this music tells me that they don’t respect the music they listen to.

i used to think all country music was like slow and not good. but then my sister started to listen to it on the radio which met i had to listen to it too and i started to really like it and now it is my favorite type of music. i do also listen to other types but i am not a person who says a certian type of music stinks without actually listening to a bunch of songs. i know what u mean about the people saying they don’t like country music and have never really listened to it cuz there are people at my school just like it.

I LOVE Country music! I think the reason why people hate it so much is their twang or accent, the fact that most of their songs are sad, that the songs are all about rednecks or so-called hicks.

But country music is so much MORE than that! It is about life, the songs reflect the ups and downs of life that we all go through. It’s like a soundtrack to your life.

To quote Trace Adkins, “These songs are about me.”

    They really are.
