Have you ever actually sat down and listened to old American Country and Western Music?
Collie asked the question:
I never really knew anything about American Country music. I came across some old Hank Williams stuff and…..Wow, I have never…I don’t even know how to say it. Amazing… I cannot believe how ignorant I was, ha ha. To everyone out there, have you really ever sat and listened to that older American stuff? No musician has ever made me cry, not even close. But Hank Williams literally left me in tears. Unbelievable.

haha Yes!
I used to never want to listen to it because it’s ALL my parents played when I was a kid. Then I sat down one day and listened to it on my own- still turning my nose up at it (all through the first few songs, as I am STUBBORN!), but soon decided it was, indeed, FANTASTIC!
I still a type of music I REALLY have to be in the mood for though, but boy when I am you can’t get me to turn it off now, haha.
Funny you asked that , I’m 47 and when I was a kid I always remember when my dad played C&W in the car I’d hate it.Eventually by the time I turned 30 I realized he was right , now that I’m older I can REALLY appreciate the magificent talent of people Like Williams , Cash , George Jones etc
and I do agree with you , If some of Hank Williams music doesn’t bring out any emotion in you , you are clinically dead
oh yes! I was born and raised in the south! Ever listen to Johnny Cash
No,no,no,whenever I hear that crap,I have to turn it off.Same old theme,my wife just left me,old glory (shudder) and a pickup truck. It is as imaginative as waking up in the morning or being a buttercup in a field of buttercups.
Try listening to George Jones..”He stopped loving her to-day”, now that one still cracks me up. That by far has to be one of the classics. Hank had a drinking problem and you can really feel the hurt in his songs as well as the truth. Webb Pierce, Bob Wills, Ray Price.,,Faron Young
So many died way too young but what a legacy they left…nothing like CW of today….thank you for the memories..
all the time. I’m a music lover. country music tells a story and draws you in. you can identify with the song. I like truckers songs (going down the super slab, with smokie up my oops), being a Red Neck Woman too.
Actually I have favorites in all genre’ of music
