How can you hate country music and love Taylor Swift at the same time?

♥you + Hamsters! asked the question:

I love country music and I love Taylor Swift, they kind of go hand in hand. Yes, Taylor doesn’t have a HUGE country feel, but she is still in the country genre… I just don’t see how you can hate country and like her. Explain?

I used to not be a huge country fan either until Taylor Swift came along
I think it’s because she doesn’t have that sometimes annoying twangy voice and she doesn’t put a ton of bango and steel pedal guitars in her songs.
She keeps it a nice country-pop melody and has beautiful lyrics
To be honest, I think it’s the lyrics that keep people loving her because they speak from the heart and they are so relateable :) I love Taylor and now I love country, but I think you love her cause she’s not 100% hardcore country
But she’s got that nice, southern appeal

I think you answered your own question. She doesn’t have a huge country feel, but still in the country genre. She appeals to all types of crowds.

You said it yourself: she doesn’t have a HUGE country feel. She is pop/rock.

She does not sing country music. She may be considered country (why, I don’t know) but people just hearing her for the first time and not knowing she was labeled as country would never know.

well, the only answer for that is because taylor is just amazing enough to do that. i like some country but i am in lovee with taylor. she is kind of pop to. although i absloutely hate how radio stations change her songs to pop and not country. but taylor is just so down to earth and has great talent so she captures a large range of audience. i know people that like emo/hard rock music and love her :D

I dont care for Taylors music, I will listen to it if need be but it is a bit to teenage girl for me. However I love that she draws a younger crowd to watch country TV and listen to country radio because that can get them to listen to all country music. But as far as adults not liking her music I can see that because it all revolves around highschool relationships and staying up late on the phone when your mom “dont know” ha ha.
